It was a sad day for the Oakland Athletics and baseball fans all over as the longtime team’s broadcaster and catcher Ray Fosse died Wednesday. He was 74.
The longtime A’s stalwart battled cancer for 16 years, but his baseball legacy where he spent three of his 12 major league season in Oakland and won two World Series titles will endure. Although his tenure as a player was short, his imprint on the team lasted decades. He worked with play-by-play announcer Ken Korach in the booth for 26 years.
Here are images of Fosse’s career as baseball player and as a broadcaster that made him so memorable to fans.
