CONCORD — The NEA Foundation has awarded two Mt. Diablo school district educators $5,000 grants to help improve writing instruction in English and Spanish for kindergartners and first-graders.
English learner coach specialist Diane Sharken Taboada and teacher Mary Vizcay will design writing lessons for 25 dual-language classrooms throughout the district, according to the foundation’s website.
Grants were awarded based on the quality of the proposals and their potential for enhancing student achievement, according to a news release. More information about the grants is available by visiting www.neafoundation.org.
