Susan Foord closing her Lafayette cafe

Posted on December 15, 2014

Susan Foord has decided it’s time to be a guest at parties instead of the caterer.

The entrepreneur, who parlayed a Danville home business into a wildly successful catering and cafe enterprise, announced Monday that she will close her Lafayette cafe at 3 p.m. Dec. 24.  She will continue catering on a limited basis.

On Christmas Eve, I’ll lock the front door for the last time, Foord said in a statement. But I ll take with me the memories of a career well lived and a heart full of gratitude.  Know that I’ll take with me, too, the memories of the thousands of wonderful parties, hundreds of clients and millions of friends.  I’m one lucky lady.

At the cafe, Foord and her team specialized in made-from-scratch soups, salads tossed with one of their six private-label dressings, hand-fried potato chips and sandwiches that ranged from the classic (Mom’s meatloaf) to the trendy (pulled pork with slaw).

If you’d like to squeeze in one or two more meals, the cafe is open from  10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday at 965 Mountain View Drive, Lafayette. 925-299-2469; www.susanfoordcatering.com.
