Six teens arrested in homeless man’s fatal beating

Posted on December 1, 2014

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Six teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of beating to death a homeless man on a Southern California bicycle path.

U-T San Diego reported a San Diego County sheriff’s deputy answered reports of fighting Saturday and found 55-year-old Stephen Lee Hissom dead along a bike path in Santee, east of San Diego.

A 49-year-old homeless man was injured but declined treatment.

Sheriff’s officials announced Sunday that five 18- and 19-year-olds and a minor were arrested on suspicion of murder.

Officials haven’t determined what prompted the fight.
