Scott Stapp investigated for President Obama threats

Posted on December 16, 2014

Scott Stapp is being investigated by the Secret Service for allegedly threatening President Obama.

The Creed frontman’s estranged wife called police last month to report the singer was riding around on a bicycle, carrying two backpacks he claimed were full of CIA documents and saying he was on a mission to kill Obama.

“He thinks he’s part of the CIA … he has a bunch of paperwork in his backpack that (says) he’s a CIA agent and he was supposed to assassinate Obama,” Jaclyn Stapp told the dispatcher during the 40-minute November call, released by TMZ last week.

Even though it’s fairly unlikely Stapp would or could get anywhere near the president (he prefers Nickleback), that won’t stop the Secret Service from keeping an eye on him.

“We are aware and we’ll take appropriate action,” Secret Service spokesperson Nicole Mainor told People magazine.

Stapp was placed on a psychiatric hold in November. He posted a video on Facebook that he was broke and living in his truck. His wife has said he’s on drugs and needs help. On Friday, a judge awarded solo custody of the couple’s three children to Jaclyn.
