In July, Bonni Hart and husband Jim Flatt of Martinez drove their new motor home to Sunriver, Ore., for the Flatt family reunion. Along the way, they took a trip to Sheldon, N.D., for his high school reunion where they were able to visit with eight of the 13 graduates in the class who returned for the reunion. There was also a visit to Rapid City, S.D., and Mount Rushmore, which was the highlight of their trip through 10 states. They hiked right up to and under the presidents’ faces. With the monument in the background, they took a moment to catch up on the community news in the Pleasant Hill/Martinez Record. Jim also enjoyed the motorcycles coming into the area for Sturgis rally — some 500,000 bikes were expected. On the way home, they crossed the salt flats and caught Hot August Nights in Reno.
