The NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams featured a video of San Jose’s Joe Bell that captivated the country as one of 10 inspiring viral videos that made viewers smile in 2014.
The video was shot by San Jose Mercury News reporter Julia Prodis Sulek, who lives in Bell’s neighborhood, after she noticed runners in the annual race honoring fallen war hero Pat Tillman of San Jose running onto the sidewalk to salute the 95-year-old World War II veteran.
