Harbaugh says he s always available to speak with York, Baalke about his future

Posted on December 15, 2014

Coach Jim Harbaugh said he doesn t have any firm plan to speak with 49ers owner Jed York and general manager Trent Baalke about his future with the organization.

However, he reiterated his earlier stance that, I’m always available to talk to the owner and general manager.

Harbaugh intimated that he won t initiate a conversation. He also emphasized that he s always available.

He has one year left on the five-year contract that he signed in 2011. Numerous reports have said that Harbaugh almost certainly won t be back next season.

When asked if he preferred any talk take place sooner rather than later, Harbaugh made it clear that his focus has been elsewhere all season.

Everybody’s been head down, everybody’s been focused on the season, Harbaugh said. Players, coaches, front office. That’s been our approach. That’s where we’ve been, what we’ve been doing.

Players such as quarterback Colin Kaepernick have been quite vocal in their support of Harbaugh.

Naturally, Harbaugh deflected all talk about him and his job uncertainty.

I would rather talk about how proud I am of them, Harbaugh said. There s been a lot taken away from them and the way they ve been playing. I hate to keep contributing to that.
