General Motors has recalled 316,357 Buick, Chevy, GMC, Saab and Isuzu vehicles for a possible low-beam headlight failure.
The affected models, most of them in the U.S., are 2006-2009 Buick LaCrosse sedans and certain 2006-2008 SUVs under the Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Buick Rainier, Saab 9-7X and Isuzu Ascender names.
The headlights and daytime running lamps in these vehicles, GM said, could temporarily or permanently fail to illuminate. No injuries or accidents have been associated with the problem, the company said.
GM has issued more than 30 million vehicle recalls in North America in 2014, almost 27 million of them for vehicles operating in the U.S.
The bulk of those recalls have concerned what the company calls “ignition switch torque performance” or “unintended ignition key rotation.” Those problems have been linked to as many as 36 deaths in situations in which the ignition switch failure has disabled air bags, power steering, brakes or other essential vehicle functions.
The latest recall isn’t the company’s first headlight malfunction this year. In May, GM reported that more than 300,000 Chevrolet vehicles were suffering from possible failures of the daytime running lamps or the headlights. The same month, the company also recalled more than 2.4 million Chevy vehicles for tail-light problems.
