Beloved former Pacifica pastor dies

Father Len Calegari, retired pastor of the Parish of St. Peter in Pacifica, died early Thanksgiving morning. He was 79. Fr. Len arrived in Pacifica on May 30, 1981 and served as pastor of St. Peter’s for 23 years. In 2004, he retired to residency at St. Stephen Parish in San Francisco. Ordained in March of 1963, Fr. Len additionally served at parishes in Kentfield and Novato, among others. A 1952 graduate of Junipero Serra High School, it was the wish of Fr. Len to hold his funeral at St. Peter Church. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 9 at 11 a.m. A reception will follow in the gym, Parish of St. Peter, 700 Oddstad Blvd. For more information call 650-359-6313.

More details on the life of this remarkable man will run in next week’s Pacifica Tribune. Members of the local church noted that, “Fr. Len was a great gift of God for the Archdiocese and especially for St. Peter’s.”
