When fans first met Jay Pritchett and Gloria Delgado-Pritchett, they had been married for several months. That’s why it was so surprising for Jay to learn that his wife and stepson named Manny could not ride a bike.

Manny took up this mode of transportation reasonably quickly. On the other hand, Gloria was afraid to ride. She was told her whole life that “people grab you” while on a bike, and after an impromptu lesson from Jay, she turned to the Dunphy family.
Luke Dunphy, who was bored at home, insisted he taught several friends how to ride a bicycle. That, of course, wasn’t true. Instead of providing instructions, this character just sprayed Gloria with a water gun. To get away from him, she rode the bike.
Luke Dunphy used his water gun to help other members of this extended family. That includes Haley Dunphy, who was struggling to remember facts for school. Nothing this character did helped her study.
“Let me try dad, I´m a great teacher,” Luke Dunphy said, sitting across from his older sister. After spraying her with his water gun, Haley got the correct answer to her school assignment. As a result, Phil Dunphy left his son to his unique methods.
“Teacher of the year,” Luke Dunphy stated.

Biking wouldn’t be the only skill that Gloria learned from the Dunphy family. During the “My Hero” episode of this sitcom, Gloria confided in Phil Dunphy that she could not rollerskate. As a result, Phil took her into the parking lot to give her lessons. He might’ve gotten facial injuries in the process, but it was worth it.
Gloria returned the favor during another episode of this series, where she gave Haley Dunphy English lessons. Of course, members of this extended family babysat for each other. That is until the children of Modern Family grew into young adults.
ABC’s award-winning sitcom was broadcast on the television network for over a decade, with Luke Dunphy graduating high school, working, and eventually going off to college. Gloria Delgado-Pritchett eventually became a realtor, partnering with the real estate mogul Phil Dunphy.
