He’s BTS’ resident prince charming.
Jimin is known for his big heart and limitless talent, especially when dancing with the K-pop group BTS. However, even before becoming an idol and award-winning singer, Jimin studied contemporary dance at a performing arts school.
Here’s what we know about this BTS member and his dancing experience.
Jimin is one of the seven members of the K-pop group BTS
He’s the singer behind solo songs like “Filter” and “Intro: Serendipity.” Jimin is also one of the singers and dancers in group BTS songs. That includes the award-winning Be (Deluxe Edition) track from 2020, “Dynamite,” and the recently-released single “Permission to Dance.”
Jimin is also known for being one of the best dancers in this K-pop group. When asked who learns choreography the fastest during one interview, RM said it’s probably V, Jimin, or J-Hope.
In another interview with WIRED, after being named the best dancer in BTS, J-Hope shared that he thinks RM and Jin are two of the best dancers. Jimin even showcases his dancer roots with BTS songs like “Black Swan.” While watching the “Black Swan” Art Film, some BTS members noted the similarities between the dance company and Jimin’s movements.
“Don’t you think Jimin could have done this if he continued [to] dance,” Suga said, according to a translation from Koreaboo. Jin seemed to agree, saying, “Jimin could do it right away.”
Does BTS’ Jimin do ballet?
Jimin is one of the singers in this K-pop group. Before he was a member of BTS, Jimin studied contemporary dance at the Busan High School of Arts, becoming one of the top performers in the modern dance department, according to All K-Pop.
It was this experience that propelled him to audition for Big Hit Entertainment. However, it’s unclear if Jimin performed ballet before his debut with this boy band. With some BTS songs, though, Jimin shows off ballet-style movements.
That is especially true of the “Black Swan” choreography, which highlights the singer during live performances. There was even a mini dance break during the 2019 MMAs featuring Jimin’s fluid dancing skills.
Jimin is one of the members of BTS’ unofficial ‘dance line,’ along with J-Hope
There isn’t as much of a definitive dance line in this K-pop group, at least not in the same way there is a maknae/hyung line and a vocal/rap line. All seven idols in this boy band dance for songs like “Permission to Dance” and “Boy With Luv.”
There are some members of this K-pop group who typically take on more responsibly regarding choreography. That includes J-Hope, who had his own dance break during the MMA performance of “Dynamite” and Jimin.
The “Life Goes On” music video by BTS, featuring Jimin, is now available for streaming on YouTube.
