Amid the ongoing battle over her conservatorship, Britney Spears was also recently accused of battery by a staff member. The misdemeanor allegation against the singer is now being turned over to the Ventura County District Attorney to determine whether to prosecute.

The infamous conservatorship case, which has father Jamie Spears controlling the pop star’s health care and estate, has no end in sight. Mr. Spears has been at the helm of the legal arrangement for over 13 years, after a series of highly publicized incidents that called into question her mental health.
In June 2021, Britney delivered a bold statement to Judge Brenda Penny, calling the conservatorship “abusive” and saying that her father should “be in jail.” The Free Britney movement has rallied around the singer, staging public walks and appearing outside of the Los Angeles courthouse.
In the most recent development, Jamie Spears appeared to have relinquished his grip of control, saying that he would eventually step back from the conservatorship once certain conditions are met. It was a victory for Britney, but there’s still a long road ahead.
“We are pleased that Mr. Spears and his lawyer have today conceded in a filing that he must be removed,” read a statement released by Britney’s lawyer Mathew Rosengart. “It is vindication for Britney. We are disappointed, however, by their ongoing shameful and reprehensible attacks on Ms. Spears and others. We look forward to continuing our vigorous investigation into the conduct of Mr. Spears, and others, over the past 13 years, while he reaped millions of dollars from his daughter’s estate, and I look forward to taking Mr. Spears’s sworn deposition in the near future.”

The chaos has evidently spread beyond the courtroom and into Britney’s Thousand Oaks (Los Angeles) home, where a dispute over her dogs allegedly caused her to hit a housekeeper on August 16. The housekeeper in question filed a police report, but few details have emerged about how exactly Spears is accused of making physical contact.
After an initial investigation by Ventura County Sherrifs, the case is reportedly now being turned over to the Ventura County District Attorney, who will decide whether to prosecute.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Rosengart released a statement about the incident on August 27, denying that she struck the housekeeper and saying that it wouldn’t have been reported if it were not Britney Spears.
“It is routine for a matter like this to be sent to the DA’s misdemeanor unit,” Rosengart’s statement read. “To its credit, the Sheriff’s Department has already acknowledged that the matter, even as alleged, involved an ‘extremely minor’ or ‘very minor’ misdemeanor, with obviously ‘no injuries.’ There was also no striking, and if this did not involve Britney Spears this never would have been reported at all.”

Rosengart continued to minimize the incident, chalking it up to ‘tabloid fodder.’
“This remains overblown sensational tabloid fodder,” continued the statement. “Anyone can make an accusation but this should have been closed immediately.”
Meanwhile, Britney continues an intense social media blitz, posting topless photos, fashion choices, and dance videos, and sharing personal details about her life. “If standing up for yourself burns a bridge, I have matches,” read a meme posted July 30th. “We ride at dawn.”
