This 1968 Mazda 110S Cosmo (chassis 10425) wears a chassis plate from the Mazda importer in France and is said to be the car that was on the Mazda stand at the Paris Auto Salon in 1968. We love the look of this coupe in red with black wheels, even though it was a change from the original white. This is an SWB model from before the refresh added several inches between the doors and rear wheel openings. Find it here on eBay in Berkshire, UK for 18,000 GBP (today ~$29,500). Special thanks to BaT reader Nathan R. for this submission!
The car appears to be quite complete, and this transition year means it has the refreshed front end design of the later LWB cars The car is badged as a 110S externally instead of a Cosmo, which was apparently done for non-Japanese market cars.
The engine bay shows a later 13b rotary engine and the seller says that the transmission tunnel had to be modified a bit to fit the corresponding transmission.
The number plates below show the standard Mazda plate and then the additional French plate.
We’d love nothing more than to sort this car mechanically and turn it into a road event car with this same color scheme. Restored to perfection white examples are very cool, but a driver level car that gets used and has a cheaper and better drivetrain is a good swap in our view.
