The 1981 Porsche 911SC has been modified to resemble an early 1970s RS and is powered by a 3.0 liter flat-six paired to a 5-speed 915 transaxle. Much of the work was commissioned by a previous owner and was completed in 2015 by builder Dave Kealoha. A Pelican Parts forum shows the details of the build and can be found here. The selling dealer recently performed over $9k in additional work including new RS bodywork, new graphics, refinished Fuchs, new clutch, camshafts, rocker shaft seals, wiring harness, new plumbing, modified exhaust system, rebuilt fuel system, a new A/C system, and more. The car is sold with the original owner’s manual and toolkit, a binder full of records and receipts from the build, and a clean Texas title in the current owner’s name.
The car has received a windows-out repaint in the original Chiffon White (L182). The finish looks glossy with no visible faults according to the seller. New grey and yellow graphics were also added.
A custom fiberglass long hood from TRE Racing was installed along with fiberglass fenders, RS-style bumpers, and a ducktail decklid. The decklid was painted by the seller to match the rest of the body, and was fitted properly along with the front bumper. A through-the-hood fuel filler with custom drilled chrome fuel cap and drilled, early model chrome door handles have also been fitted. New horn grilles and chrome headlight bezels were added, and hood-mounted Cibie driving lights complete the look.
Additional exterior work includes new front windshield and rear glass with new rubber seals and chrome trim, new front and rear opening quarter windows, and new front and rear light lenses with new rubber gaskets. The previous front bumper and wingless rear deck lid are included.
The brake calipers were rebuilt and repainted, and new Hawk brake pads were installed along with braided stainless brake lines utilizing ATE Super Blue racing fluid. The original staggered 16″ Fuchs were refinished and are wrapped in new Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 tires.
Inside, the cockpit features a lightweight interior with custom dash, door panels, and seats upholstered in black basket weave with brass grommets. New AppBiz RS-style carpets, an Autobahn Interiors light ivory headliner, and an early chrome SWB rear view mirror have been added.
The seats appear to have seen little use since the interior work was completed, with bolsters showing no wrinkles or wear. The carpets look clean and have been preserved underneath new Coco mats.
A leather-wrapped black Nardi steering wheel features a colored crested horn cap, and a short shifter is topped with wooden 917-style shift knob. The seller has also installed a complete A/C system as well as a retro-styled modern radio with auxiliary capability.
The 3.0 liter flat-six breathes through 40 IDA Weber carbs and distributes power through a 915 5-speed manual transaxle. Work and modifications performed on the engine include:
- Replaced clutch, throw out bearing, pressure plate, and resurfaced flywheel
- Web Cam 20/21 camshafts
- RSR rocker shaft seals
- Viton seals throughout
- Elephant Racing finned oil lines
- Elephant Racing fender mounted cooler with dual cooling fans
- Distributor recurved and rebuilt to RS spec by Burnham Performance
- MSD 6AL ignition and coil
- Rebuilt original alternator

- Custom engine wiring harness
- Fuel system rebuilt with all Porsche parts
- All new plumbing
- Carburetors adjusted
- K&N air cleaner
- Black ceramic coated headers and sport muffler
- Almost every nut, bolt, and washer yellow zinc plated
The engine looks clean in the orderly engine compartment with new powder coat and paint on the tin, valve covers, and air cleaners. The seller reports that a recent leakdown test showed 3-5% variation on all cylinders and that there are no leaks, drips, or smoke generated from the engine.
Engine #6411043 indicates that the motor is of the correct type but comes from another 1981 911SC. The number breaks down as follows: 6 is the six-cylinder engine designation, 4 stands for a 911SC engine (Type 930/16), and the 1 verifies the model year as 1981. The serial number 1043 shows it was fairly early in the production sequence.
The suspension has been upgraded with new Bilstein sport shocks all around and camber plates with monoballs up front. A fresh corner balance and competition alignment was recently performed by Mirage International.
A collection of underbody photos have been provided by the seller and show no apparent damage or corrosion issues.
The selling dealer spent two months refurbishing and sorting the car at a cost of over $9k. A large binder is full of invoices and receipts from 2007-2016 that show the details of the build. The original owner’s manual and toolkit are also included.
