BaT Auction: Modified 2005 BMW 330i ZHP 6-Speed

Posted on April 22, 2020

This 2005 BMW 330i sedan was originally delivered to New Country BMW of Hartford, Connecticut, and was acquired by the seller in November 2013. The car is finished in Imola Red over black and was factory equipped with the ZHP Performance Package and heated front seats. Power is provided by a 3.0-liter inline-six, which is reportedly modified with a Technique Tuning Stage 1 turbo kit and is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. Additional modifications are said to include a GReddy Profec B Spec II boost controller, 17” LTW5 anthracite wheels, Orion V2.5 Angel Eyes, a Sachs clutch, a BMW auxiliary input kit with a Bluetooth receiver, Turner Motorsport subframe bushings, and more. This E46 shows 136k miles and is now offered with an accident-free Carfax report and a clean Michigan title in the seller’s name.

The cabin is trimmed with black leather on the heated sport seats, and black patterned trim accents on the dash and doors. Interior features include a GReddy Profec B Spec II boost controller, a BMW short console, an M3 dead pedal, a BMW auxiliary input kit with a Bluetooth receiver, WeatherTech floor mats, and a BMW HomeLink garage door opener with buttons near the sunroof controls. The seller states the front windows have an intermittent slow return.

Instrumentation set behind the leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel includes a 155-mph speedometer, a 7,500-rpm tachometer, as well as gauges for fuel level and temperature. The digital odometer shows just under 136k miles, approximately 28k of which were added by the seller. Auxiliary AutoMeter dials in the center stack include gauges for oil pressure, oil temperature, and air/fuel ratio, the latter of which has a dead area on the readout.

The 3.0-liter M54 inline-six is reportedly modified with a Technique Tuning Stage 1 turbo kit. The six-speed manual transmission is said to be equipped with a Sachs clutch, a Zeckhausen Racing clutch delay valve, a UUC stainless steel slave cylinder line, and UUC clutch poly bushings. A 3.07:1 Quaife limited-slip differential with a Z4 finned differential cover is installed. The seller notes that the turbocharger burns oil on repeated acceleration. The oil filter housing gasket and VANOS oil line were reportedly replaced in February 2019. The seller states that the cooling system was refreshed at 110k miles and that additional modifications include:

  • Vaio oil pump
  • ATI Super Damper harmonic damper and crank pulley
  • VAC Motorsports oil pan baffle and ported oil cap
  • M3 fuel baffle
  • Innovate Motorsports LC-1 air/fuel ratio sensor
  • M3 transmission and motor mounts
  • M3 giubo
