This 1982 Porsche 924 has 64k miles and has been owned by the same family since 1987. The car is powered by a 1984cc inline-four paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. It has been garaged during winters, and has sat idle for several periods. It carries partial maintenance records from purchase until 2005, after which maintenance was performed personally by the seller. A partial list of optional equipment includes A/C, Blaupunkt stereo, cast wire mesh alloys, and an alarm system. Within the last 3k miles, the car received a new timing belt, water pump, muffler, front suspension, and the A/C was converted to R134 refrigerant. This Porsche 924 is sold with a clean South Dakota title.
Surinam Red Metallic paint is said to be original except for the passenger front fender and the cowl, which were repainted to correct damage from being keyed. The front valence is dented along the lower edge, and there are a few parking dings, scratches below a door handle, and a number of chips on the hood.
The 15″ mesh-pattern alloys were optioned at purchase and are currently equipped with Firestone Firehawk tires with around 3k miles of wear. Windows and rear hatch glass were recently tinted and are said to be original Sekurit parts.
The black interior has held up well for its age, though the dash has cracked in several places around the defrost vents. Gauges and electronics are said to be functional. The A/C was converted to R134a refrigerant and serviced recently, but the
system loses its charge if left sitting for more than a year. The original Blaupunkt radio has been replaced by a Pioneer unit.
Leatherette-and-pinstripe-velour seats show several rips and holes in the cloth, and there is some fading along the transmission tunnel carpeting. Other minor faults noted by the seller are broken sun visor clips and door strap brackets, a cracked window switch bezel, and the hatch storage cover does not retract.
The 1984cc inline-four is equipped with Bosch K-Tronic fuel injection and made 115 horsepower when new. Power is sent to a 5-speed rear-mounted transaxle for balanced weight distribution. The car has been maintained with regular fluid changes and tune-ups, and a long list of as-needed maintenance items have been addressed over the years. Within the past 6 years and 3k miles, the car has received a rebuilt distributor and new fan temp sensor, fuel pump relay, timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, wires, and radiator hoses. The hood latch has been relocated, the gas struts require replacement, and the underhood insulation is deteriorating. The car is said to run slightly rough on initial cold weather starts, but warms up quickly.
The underside of the galvanized chassis shows a layer of road dust and some corrosion on the exhaust system. Within the last 3k miles, Weltmeister Control Arm bushings, front and rear inner and outer wheel bearings, ball joints, and Monroe front struts were installed along with a new muffler.
