This 1977 Datsun 280Z was delivered new to Woodbridge Datsun of Avenel, New Jersey, and was acquired by the seller in December 2020, reportedly from its original owner. The car is finished in Silver Metallic over black vinyl, and power is provided by a 2.8-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes air conditioning, 14″ aluminum wheels, a Hitachi AM/FM stereo, and a Magnaflow exhaust system. Fluid changes were performed and the spark plugs, thermostat, and fuel filter were replaced in 2020. This 280Z is offered with the removed steel wheels and covers, its window sticker, factory literature, 2020 service records, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The car was finished from the factory in Sterling Silver (306) and was repainted approximately eight years ago according to the seller. Black pinstripes have been added, and additional features include hood vents, a retractable antenna, and chrome impact bumpers with rubber end caps. Four-spoke 14″ aluminum wheels are wrapped in 195/70 Cooper Evolution Tour tires showing 2020 production codes. The brake fluid was changed in December 2020. A set of four steel wheels and factory covers are included in the sale.
The cabin features seats upholstered in black vinyl along with a matching dashboard, center console, door panels, and carpets. Amenities include air conditioning, a Hitachi AM/FM stereo, a rear defroster, and an armrest. The headlight switch was replaced in December 2020. The clock does not work, a tear is visible on the driver’s seat, and the carpets show fading.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges are mounted in the center of the dash. The five-digit mechanical odometer indicates 64k miles, approximately 2k of which were added by the seller.
The 2.8-liter L28E inline-six is equipped with Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection and was factory rated at 170 horsepower. The spark plugs, thermostat, fuel filter, and air filter were replaced and the coolant and engine oil were changed in December 2020.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. The differential and transmission fluids were serviced in 2020, and a receipt from the work is provided in the gallery. A Magnaflow exhaust system has been installed along with a replacement catalytic converter.
