This 1970 Mustang Mach 1 is finished in blue metallic over a black knitted vinyl interior and left the factory optioned with a 428ci Super Cobra Jet V8, Drag Pack, and a 3-speed automatic transmission. It also features a shaker hood, quick-ratio power steering, power brakes, and a set of Magnum 500 wheels. Sometime prior to 2006, a refurbishment was performed which included a refinishing the body, reupholstering the interior, and more. Approximately 2,500 miles have been added by the seller during their 12 years of ownership. This Mustang Mach 1 is now being offered with an Elite Marti report and a clear Minnesota title in the seller’s name.
The Mach 1 was offered exclusively as a SportsRoof, previously known as a fastback. Factory equipment for the Mach 1 included a black hood stripe, twist-lock hood latches, as well front and rear spoilers, rocker panel guards, and a louvered rear window shade. Sometime prior to 2006, while the car was being refurbished, the exterior was changed from Bright Gold Metallic to the current metallic blue. A few imperfections are visible in the finish, including some scratches on the passenger side rear fender lip and driver’s side quarter panel.
A new set of BFGoodrich Radial T/As were installed on the Magnum 500 wheels approximately five years ago. Quick-ratio power steering and power brakes were installed by the factory.
High-back seats are trimmed in black vinyl, with matching panels and low-pile carpet. According to the included Marti Report, the interior was originally Medium Ginger.
A factory 3-spoke wheel is mounted on an optional tilt-column, and a Philco AM radio remains installed in the center console. A molded cover has been added over the dash pad. 49k miles are shown on the 5-digit odometer, approximately 2,500 miles of which have been added by the current owner over the past 12 years.
The 428ci Super Cobra-Jet V8 breathes through a single four-barrel carburetor below a shaker scoop. It is also equipped with the Drag Pack, which according to Ford literature introduced an engine oil cooler, as well as cap-screw connecting rods, a modified crankshaft, stronger flex-plate, and a larger harmonic balancer. Required service over the past 12 years has reportedly been limited to routine maintenance, including a carburetor rebuild, along with oil and fluid changes.
A 3-speed Cruise-O-Matic transmission sends power to the Traction-Lok 3.91 rear axle. Lift photos of the suspension, steering, rear axle, and floors have been provided in the gallery below.
