This 1969 Jaguar XKE is a Series II fixed-head coupe that was manufactured on July 17, 1969 and dispatched a month later to the US for distribution through British Leyland of New York. Finished in opalescent green over black, the car is powered by a 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six backed by a four-speed manual gearbox. It was sold on BaT in late 2016 and acquired by the selling dealer a few months ago. Approximately $13k in upgrades and mechanical service have been performed over the past three years, including new cooling fans, an electronic ignition, and more. This E-Type is now being offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, records dating back to 2007, and a clear North Carolina title.
The opalescent green color was derived from a modern Aston Martin or Jaguar paint code, and the factory color is listed as Ascot Fawn on the Jaguar Heritage Certificate. Closeups of the trim, wraparound chrome bumpers, and lights are provided in the gallery below.
15” wire wheels are secured with a set of two-eared knockoffs and wrapped in 205-series Kumho radial tires. A matching spare and factory jack reside in the rear compartment.
A walk-around video of the exterior is attached above.
The cabin is trimmed in black leather with matching-color carpets and perforated inserts for the seats.
A wood-rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel has been installed, and a modern stereo is located in the center console. 88k miles are shown on the five-digit odometer, and an indicator lamp on the dash panel is inoperable.
Power is provided by a replacement 4.2-liter inline-six, which was sourced from a donor 1969 XKE and features an earlier triple-SU carburetor system with the corresponding airbox. A stainless exhaust, Pertronix Ignitor, upgraded coil, and modern cooling fans are fitted. A recent cold compression test revealed between 155 and 165 psi in all six cylinders, and a tune-up was performed in preparation for the auction.
Service records dating back to 2007 accompany the sale and can be reviewed in the gallery.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate lists the production date and factory configuration. A driving video can be viewed below.
