This 1969 Ford Thunderbird Landau has been refinished in purple over a refreshed white interior, and its 429ci V8 is paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Features include a black landau top, 15″ American Racing wheels, power-assisted front disc brakes, sequential taillights, air conditioning, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and fog lights. The car was refinished under previous ownership, and the seller acquired it eight years ago out of Buffalo, New York, before importing it to Ontario, Canada. The suspension has since been overhauled, and the oil was recently changed. This Thunderbird is now offered in Canada with an owner’s manual, an Elite Marti report, service records covering current ownership, and clean Ontario registration in the seller’s name.
The car was delivered new in Morning Gold (R) and is said to have been refinished in Midnight Orchid—a metallic purple color offered for the 1969 Thunderbird—under previous ownership. Under current ownership a replacement black landau top and replacement bumpers were fitted, and the hideaway headlights have been converted to use an electric system. The car also features sequential taillights, and the paintwork and exterior trim are shown up close in the photo gallery below.
The 15″ American Racing Torq Thrust wheels are mounted with 225/70 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The power-assisted brakes utilize discs up front and drums at the rear, and the suspension is said to have been overhauled.
The interior has been refreshed in white and features front bucket seats and a rear bench with a folding armrest hinge at the center. Thunderbird emblems adorn the door panels, and dark brown carpets cover the floor. The air-conditioning system was serviced under current ownership, and the seller notes that the Philco AM radio is inoperable and scratches are present on the Thunderbird-branded door sills.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, an inoperable clock, and combination gauges. The five-digit odometer shows just under 27k miles, approximately 2,600 of which were added by the seller over the past eight years. True mileage is unknown.
The 429ci Thunderjet V8 and three-speed automatic transmission are said to have been rebuild under previous ownership. Service under current ownership included installing a PerTronix electronic-ignition module as well as stainless-steel exhaust system, and the oil was recently changed.
Additional photos of the underside are presented in the gallery below.
The Elite Marti report lists the original colors, factory equipment, build statistics, and a production date of May 21, 1969. It also includes a reproduction trim tag and window sticker, which lists optional equipment and a total price of $5,966.15.
