This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro underwent a 12-month refurbishment in the style of a Yenko Camaro SS that was completed in 2020 according to the selling dealer. The car is finished in red with a black vinyl top over a black interior, and power is from an overbored 454ci V8 featuring a 427 crankshaft among other internal modifications. Additional equipment includes a Muncie four-speed manual transmission, a 3.08:1 Positraction rear end, a quick-ratio steering box, new suspension components, power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes, a Vintage Air HVAC system, and more. This Camaro is offered on dealer consignment in Mississippi with build photographs, a spare wheel and jack, an NCRS letter, a 1:18 scale model, and a clean Arkansas title.
The body was repainted in red with a black vinyl roof and features replacement brightwork, front and rear spoilers, a Yenko-style twin-scoop hood, a cowl stripe, and Yenko and 427 badges as well as an SS fuel filler cap. Pontiac Rally II 15″ wheels replicate those used on period Yenko cars and wear reproduction Firestone Wide-Oval redline radial tires from Coker. A matching spare is housed in the trunk. A new quick-ratio steering gearbox is said to have been fitted along with a thicker front sway bar and new rear leaf springs.
The cabin is trimmed in black vinyl with woodgrain appliqués on the center stack, which houses controls for the Vintage Air HVAC system as well as a modern period-look pushbutton radio. SS 427 floor mats protect black carpets. Controls include a three-spoke steering wheel and a Hurst tunnel shifter.
A Stewart-Warner tachometer with an adjustable redline is mounted next to a factory-style speedometer and fuel gauge. Auxiliary instruments fitted to the underside of the dash can be seen functioning in this video. The five-digit odometer shows 68k miles, fewer than 50 of which are said to have been driven since completion. Actual chassis mileage is unknown.
The replacement 454ci big-block V8 has reportedly been bored .030″ over and fitted with a steel 427 crankshaft, H-beam connecting rods, hypereutectic alloy 10.0:1 pistons, an aftermarket camshaft, and 396SS cylinder heads with roller rockers. Induction is from a four-barrel carburetor on an aluminum intake manifold. Other underhood equipment includes finned cast aluminum Yenko valve covers, an aftermarket aluminum radiator, a 9″ brake booster, and new wiring.
Tube headers feed a stainless steel dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers. A Muncie M20 four-speed manual transmission directs power to the rear wheels via a 3.08:1 Positraction axle. The Fisher firewall tag and an NCRS letter confirming production data are shown in the gallery.
