Here’s the first helmet design of his F1 career. Back in 2007, a youthful Lewis Hamilton was gearing up for his much anticipated Formula One debut in Australia. The then 22-year-old Briton had been a McLaren protégé for several years before graduating to the top echelon with the Woking-based team. The 2006 GP2 Series victor would make quite a strong first impression around the Albert Park Circuit, qualifying fourth and claiming his maiden podium finish on race day. Hamilton would also immediately establish himself as a special talent with a bold overtaking manoeuvre on team-mate and reigning double F1 world champion Fernando Alonso at the start of the Grand Prix: a good initial sign of what was to follow between the two rivals.
